The widely circulated video of Turkish doctoral student Rumeysa Ozturk’s arrest in the Boston area has sent shock waves through the academic community as thousands turned out on Wednesday, demanding her release.

Yesterday, #RumeysaOzturk, a #Tufts student, a visa holder, and a human being, was surrounded by masked federal agents, stripped of her phone mid-call, and shoved into an unmarked SUV by men in plainclothes who refused to identify themselves.

This is not public safety. This is fascism. #somerville
