With its arrival into #GenerativeAI, @Apple unveiled a lot more than expected at WWDC 2024. My 2 big takeaways were:
1.) This is the turning point where GenAI goes mainstream
2.) The bar has been reset for GenAI security and privacy

#VisioPro is the most interesting product Apple has released in years because it's flawed, imperfect and takes big risks. And it does some fascinating things. If I was grading it right now, I would give it an A+ for innovation and a C- in product development. Full review to come.

Here's my buying advice for Apple Vision Pro: Most people shouldn't buy one unless you're building an app or testing it in your organization or industry. But definitely try one by booking an Apple Store appt or get one and take it back w/in the 14-day return window.

I've tried Vision Pro and other top XR headsets and here's the one most people should buy
Vision Pro is an incredible $4,000 developer kit most people should not buy. But, you should definitely try it at an Apple Store or take advantage of the two-week return policy.

The new MacBook Pro with M3 Max is actually even faster and more responsive than Apple suggested. I ran a real-world AI test in Lightroom against 3 other Macs and you can see the chart in my @zdnet.bsky.social review.

Precursor to Apple’s FineWoven? If you remember Samsung’s Alcantara case, it had a suede feel similar to what FineWoven is going for. But I don’t get your hopes up — FineWoven doesn’t feel nearly as nice as Alcantara did. And the Alcantara was an odd choice that got discontinued pretty quickly.

If there was going to be a complete surprise at this year's Apple Event  I think it would be... AirPods 4th Gen with the H2 chip and a USB-C case. There haven't been any reports about this, but there are still occasionally Apple updates that fly under the radar.

I've published my hands-on first take of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, including buying advice on who can most benefit from its best features. If you're going to buy one, there's also one finish that I'd recommend above the others. Learn why: https://zd.net/3KgIQeD

Testing the Samsung Fold 5. It’s noticeably lighter while the fact that it now folds flush with no air-gap also makes it feel more sturdy and well balanced at the same time.

At Samsung Unpacked this week in Seoul, foldable phones are expected to be the main event. So I brought last year’s Fold 4 to compare to the new products. There are bigger questions about foldables that we’ll cover on ZDNET. It’s going to be a very interesting week!

My hands-on experience with Apple Vision Pro at WWDC23 exceeded my expectations. There are genuine breakthroughs in this product and I've highlighted the biggest ones in my first write-up.
I tried Apple Vision Pro and it's far ahead of where I expected
The smoothness of the eye-tracking interface, the quality of the displays, and the three-dimensional photos and videos are its standout features.

June 6, 2023 at 10:12 PM
At WWDC23 , the unveiling of Apple Vision Pro has stunned and surprised the audience. The name was not expected and the fact that its focus is on AR and not VR has the audience in almost stunned silence.

MacOS Sonoma gets screensavers similar to the big sweeping drone video screensavers on Apple TV. Being able to drop iOS widgets like the Tesla widget seamlessly from your iPhone to your Mac is also interesting. #wwdc23
