Of all the commentary about the BBC I've seen in the past 24 hours, I haven't seen anyone refer to "Our BBC, Our Future", a survey conducted this year whose results were published relatively recently.

“Iced Matcha, non-alcoholic”
What monster is adding alcohol to an already unholy concoction???

How unusual is it to not have a TV?
I expect that it will be less unusual for the younger adults living in shared accommodation, and more so as you approach millennial age.

Leaning into my age by telling a young person that "rizz" means "rizz-pect".

This evening I spent almost two hours preparing a soup and then started to wonder whether the fact that I blended it means it will digest more efficiently than if I had not blended it.
Which led me to this article:

Saddened to discover that this artist, too, is entirely AI-generated.

When did everyone agree to start talking about “acts of service” as our love language on dating apps? Did I miss the meeting?

Wait… for the purpose of my ongoing tally, does Nadine Dorries count as non-political? By my criteria, only active party representatives can count as belonging to that party, yet…

I just heard this on BBC Radio 3:

Good morning to Stephen who says “Please, please, announce the music in English! I do not speak French! I’m an English licence fee payer. You have just announced the “La sonnerie de Sainte-Geneviève du Mont de Paris”...

Just casually passing through four outdoor stops on a London Underground line and, on one of the big three mobile networks, being unable to use any data whatsoever. Standard.

Continuing my vendetta against users who post links to archive.today, archive.is, archive.md, or archive.ph in the replies to any journalist's posts! Have some tact for god's sake.

@cerysmatthews.bsky.social Hi Cerys, how do, or how will, you ensure that the music you play on your Monday night show is by humans?
Sounds silly, but so far today I've discovered three AI artists in my Spotify Discover Weekly playlist! Soul'd Out, Orion7, and Howlin Jackson. There may be more yet!

From the album art, I suspected this was AI, and the description of the song supports my suspicion...

The perfect advertisement for train travel; people joining at stations along the route, to join their friends already on the train, and gleefully catch up on life’s happenings.

You're still on twitter because of the drip-drip of photos and videos of sumo wrestlers touring London, admit it.

So apparently starting in iOS 26 I can't block nuisance calls directly from the Phone app?

This article is, in true Guardian fashion, littered with spelling or grammatical mistakes. I make no such criticism of the message behind the article.

The Japanese singer/musician hide died in 1998, but Spotify continues to recommend music by someone named hide which, to put it politely, is absolute trash.
I haven't got the faintest idea who is producing dreck like this but I wonder if even Spotify knows, or cares?

Have you considered how companies might disrupt the market for recruitment agents using AI?
Curiosity got the better of me, so after seeing the same Facebook advertisement for the umpteenth time, I clicked to read up on what they were offering.
It's a bit of an eye-opener...

Gmail's spam filters are so much less effective than they used to be. Over the last one or two years I have seen so much get through to my inbox that really should have been caught in the net.

It's rare that I describe someone as "wise" but Dame Jane Goodall was certainly that! As well as being warm and lovely, too. Rebroadcast earlier this afternoon on the BBC World Service:

Today I learnt... that "20/20 vision" is actually "6/6" here because the 20 refers to 20 feet and we use 6 as in 6 metres...
