Visual psychophysicist #firstgen

I am interested in understanding visual perception across early, mid and high levels of the visual world
@sfn.org I will be at SfN ‘25 and will present the first data using our recently developed adaptive Object discrimination tasks FInD Object and PeDS.

Question for the scientific reviewers: when reviewing a paper, which is pre-registered, do you compare contents pre vs actual submission? Does it or should it even matter in your judgement?

We validated some of the tests in the PerZeption battery, here color detection and discrimination tests.
Our PerZeption app’s tablet-based CVD screening got a spotlight in JOSAA! AIM & FInD methods showed strong results for efficient, accurate testing. Read more about how we’re advancing vision diagnostics in our latest blog perzeption.vision/Blog #VisionScience #ColorVision

Making steady progress
One in four people—2.2 billion—face vision loss. Our mission is to prevent this with cutting-edge vision assessment software for clinicians. We’ve validated our app, scaled our tech, expanded our team, and redesigned our webpage. Our new app is ready—more updates soon. perzeption.vision/Blog

Has anyone an idea how much cones vs rods are perceptually used on average in 2025?

I my intuition is <5% rods

Is there any advantage of ICCs over Bland Altman analysis?
I can only think of the issue of different units tested.

Am I the only one who still sends friends and family postcards?

I really enjoy it when writing it but also when receiving it(which I really get to experience unfortunately 🥲)

I guess all these scam call companies will use Swedish numbers from now on as this may be the only acceptable unknown foreign number to take a call from.

🚨New paper out🚨
We @bexlab deployed a battery of adaptive visual function tests and assessed the performance in people with and without #albinism. We found impairments in most aspects expect in mid-level vision. #visionscience #ophthalmology

Preprint out 👀

We present a first-of-its-kind method that estimates which and how many perceptual categories participants experience during #binocularrivalry ⚔️

We combined a new continuous psychophysical test with unsupervised ML & also used Markov models to interrogate the dynamics of perception.
