I very rarely get to paint something this polished (still quite rough), most concepts need to be finished in a couple of days at most. The Barrow King was later polished and drawn as an ortho concept by another artist, but it started with this simple sketch. (back then he had a club, not a sword.)

They're a long gone ancient people led by giants - priest kings who came to their lands from the far south, and who ruled both by a heavy sword-hand and necromantic divination. They brought with them Horns of Power and worship of the Heron - She who carries souls back from the Twilight Fields.

And yes, the armour he's wearing is not very "Celt-like". The Barrow folk are a mixture of Minoan/Mycenaean influences, other bronze age cultures that look cool/fit and classic swords and sorcery stuff. So we looked at many bronze panoplies that people post as references for the Odyssey nowadays.

It's funny how some problems in games stay the same. I'm listening to a playthrough of the first Gothic and I noticed they had the main character's triceps clip into his broad pauldrons while running. We're been dealing with the same thing in Kromlech and had to adjust the bind of the pauldrons.

That said - if I know anyone who's actively working with Nanite Foliage in 5.7 (or if anyone knows of someone else, could you share this?) - I would love to exchange tips and tricks.
Especially about handling shitloads of bones, or if you're using SpeedTree. (or converting ST trees efficiently)

The comments about Kromlech that annoy me the most are not "more UE5 slop" (because...ok. I honestly don't love working with the engine.), it's the "just another generic medieval rpg".
Bro, there are SO FEW sword and sorc or barbarian games.
