Do me a kindness! Share this if you love and support your local library & librarians (and remember: that includes your school library & school librarian) 😊📚

Thank you libraries & library workers… for everything ✨💚

Thank you for sharing. I have only lived in Philly since 2007 and my oldest child started kindergarten in 2017 so still learning about the school districts history.

I’m sorry I can be a little overzealous in meetings like this! Been a book-nerd my whole life!

One thing that I noticed is in the past my daughter’s SDP chromebook has had trouble connecting to the internet in FLP buildings. That seems like a city wide error.

@awakenlibrarian.bsky.social visited my children’s k-8 school yesterday as part of one of our monthly family forum with our principal! Thanks for coming! And yes the dad who told you Mt Airy has the most socially active parents/ adults was right! Look up the history of Mt Airy being anti-redlining

Thank you! We live very close to the Lovett Library!

We are shooting to visit all 54 FLP branches before my kids graduate from the SDP in 2030 & 2034. We have been to 22 so far. Library advocate & public school advocate!

Who knows, a lot could change between now and the 25-26 school year! (When she needs to apply for school selection)

I just hope she chooses a school that will be a place that brings her joy, and she can be academically successful!

I don’t think schools like Central and Masterman would be a good fit for my current 7th grade child - so after 9 years of attending a k-8 school without a library, she’s likely going to a high school without one too!

My son decided in 2nd grade he wanted to go to Central and Drexel. Too early!

Then thinking about it
“Are there libraries at Central High and Drexel?”

Me “yes!”

Him “okay, phew!”

(This child is only in 3rd grade, I hope the School District of Philadelphia doesn’t make him wait 6 years until he is in high school to attend a school with a library)

Told Z (aka The NW Philly BookDragon) about the meeting I participated in tonight which was about bringing libraries back to Philly schools.

He said “When I grow up I’m going to….”

Me interrupting “become a librarian?!”

Him “No, donate a library to my school!”
