Terrific victory in horrible conditions - very even but we showed a lot of quality in their final third which showed with our second goal. A lot of fortune with the penalty but we’ve earned that luck given what happened against Liverpool. On a great trajectory right now!

Feel really gutted after getting beat in what was a brilliant game and a hugely encouraging performance from us. Both teams were so quick on the transition and opened each other up constantly. Victory came down to Liverpool having a superior bench. #BrentfordFC

Really excited to see what Carla Ward can offer as new coach of the Irish Women’s National Team. It’s great to see so many women, such as herself and Casey Stoney with Canada, steadily building their coaching careers, with the chances coming to bring a national team up a level.

Absolutely delighted and hugely proud of the boys tonight! We matched them in every department and never once looked intimidated by their quality in possession. The red card opened the floodgates. Ireland didn’t deserve to lose that heavily. They were hugely resolute in the first half. The concern is the fact that they lost so many defensive aerial duels when they were a much taller XI.
