We also have an #irc channel on libera.chat now, #librario. It’s IRC and a small project, so don’t expect much activity, but it should be a nice place to hang and chat about #books and the project.

As of last night, the public build of Librario officially supports getting #book metadata from #Goodreads, in addition to the other sources.

Source code is on #SourceHut, if anyone is interested.

Apps that get DNS verification functionality wrong really cause a lot of pain for their users.

Having explained the problem a number of times, I finally decided to write it down so now I can just share a link.
Stop Telling Users Their DNS Is Wrong
If you’re like me, you’ve had the experience where you add a DNS record for a service. You triple check it. The app still says it’s invalid. You wait. You check again. Still invalid. You start wonderi...

I have written a #Goodreads #book metadata extractor for Librario days ago, but still haven’t been able to polish and write tests for it because come sleep time, the baby has been very fussy.

Being a dad isn’t compatible with having side projects, it seems 🤔

Been a long time since I read a #book that I couldn’t put down until I was done, but Strange Pictures, by Uketsu, is that good.

Got me hooked on the first chapter and didn’t let me go until the very end.

Looking to add more sources to Librario, the #opensource #book metadata API I’m building.

What do you use when you’re looking to get information about a book?

We currently have ISBNDB, Goodreads, Google Books, and Hardcover as sources, with OpenLibrary and Anna’s Archive in the works.

Built my first iOS application today, Booktello, a frontend for Librario, a book metadata API that aggregates data from several sources into a single response.

Now let’s hope Apple approves the app for TestFlight. I wonder if they’ll allow that “Download” link. Probably not.

If you could design your perfect book and reading tracking service or application, what features would you add?

Question: if you’re looking for information on a book, is a non-spoiler summary of the book something you care about? What about one with spoilers, but clearly marked as such?

How did it take me this long to download and watch Key & Peele? I’m watching while putting the baby to sleep, bitting my tongue not to laugh too hard. So good.

I started working on an #opensource REST API that aggregates #book information from several sources and returns more complete metadata. Quite a fun project to work on, when the baby lets me.
