On the morning of July 20, 2025 the Moon passed through the Pleiades star cluster. It was a slow motion event, each frame here was separated by 30 seconds and I captured about an hour and 45 minutes of footage. I got a little dew on the lens toward the end as I forgot a dew heater strap.

I visited Stout’s Point on Petit Jean Mountain on July 10 to shoot the full “Buck” Moon rising in twilight. I was not disappointed and will try it again.

Wednesday after work, I hopped in the car and hightailed it to Bridal Veil Falls in Heber Springs. After all the rain over the weekend, I figured it was at or past peak. This was probably the most water I’ve seen there.

I went to the far end of Lake Maumelle to shoot the sunrise Sunday morning. I was surprised to see lightning on the way. The rapidly approaching thunderstorm made for some needed drama.

It's been a while since I shot a sunrise. The crack of dawn has been getting earlier and earlier for several weeks. This is from Loon Point on Lake Maumelle.

I went for the sunrise, which was meh, so I shot the setting Moon instead. Petit Jean Mountain. #Photography #Arkansas

The Lunar Eclipse was clouded out here so here's an image of the Witch Head Nebula that I shot over two nights last month instead. That bright star is Rigel but the nebula is to the west of Rigel and facing east. From our point of view, the witch head is upside down so this image is too.

Thanks to my friend, Bo Edwards, I was able to shoot my first ISS transit of the Moon Sunday night. The entire event took about half a second to happen and this video is made up of 18 frames, slowed down a lot. The video is not as sharp as I'd like but that's what they make next times for.

The Dolphin Head Nebula is a cosmic bubble in the constellation of Canis Major, a little south of Sirius. The nebula is being “inflated” by the intense stellar wind from a “Wolf-Rayet” star in it’s center. Here it is "looking" up at an open star cluster called M41.

The Pleiades star cluster is overhead at sunset now, which means they will exit the evening sky before you know it. Time to shoot them or wait a few months and get up early.
This was made from two nights imaging and about 64 three-minute subs.

Here is an image of NGC 6820 and NGC 6823 in the constellation of Vulpecula. I shot this in early October but mislabeled it. So I set it aside until I could identify it. This image was created from 3 hours of 5 minute individual frames from the River Ridge Observatory.

I know this image looks over processed but it’s not. It was really like that. I went to North Shore Landing, where it was 27F that morning. I was greeted with dense fog. As I left, the Sun had risen enough to start to burn through it. #LandscapePhotography #Arkansas

Notice the “false” Sun in this sunrise picture. It was very circular but I knew it wasn’t the actual Sun. There are several phenomena that can cause this, I don’t know which it was. #LandscapePhotography #Arkansas
