It was an honour to attend the Remembrance Service at St Mark’s War Memorial Silvertown.

Well done to St Joachim’s Primary School, the Sea Cadets and Albert for their contributions to the service.

Thank you to those who laid wreaths on my behalf in West Ham and Canning Town.

Walking to Abbey Road DLR you might pass this memorial featuring a stone lion.

The memorial lists the names of the 26 people who were employed by the Crockett Leather Cloth Factory at the time of their deaths in the First and Second World Wars.

Today we remember them.

There are memorials across our constituency that many of us walk past every day. This Remembrance weekend, I want to highlight a few of them and take time to remember the men and women they honour.

Today, we remember the 951 employees of the Gas Light and Coke company.

This week I attended World Travel Markets with the Minister for Tourism.

The expo is one of the biggest held in the Excel and the tourism industry contributes to 10% of the world’s economy.

I visited stalls from across the world and experienced their fantastic displays.

The history of The Blitz is something we know lots about in East London.

Last week I joined colleagues to mark the 75th anniversary of the re-opening of the House of Commons Chamber which had to be completely rebuilt after its destruction in an air raid on 10th May 1941.

Reports that the man charged with attempted murder on a train was also charged over an incident at Pontoon Dock DLR are concerning.

I received reassurances from the Home Secretary regarding safety on transport and in stations and remain in contact with police partners.

I visited the Post Office on Barking Road to meet the team & hear about their work.

They’re a local community resource & provide advice as well as services.

Good to meet lots of local people using the service & seeing how they value it & the team.

Islamophobia has no place in our city or our community.

I stand in solidarity with the Muslim communities in West Ham & Beckton and across Newham.

Together we stand against hate and for unity and respect.

Check out events taking place across Newham: www.newhamiam.org

Jack Leslie was a legendary Plymouth Argyle player and should have been the first black footballer to play for England.

In retirement he returned to East London but didn’t stray far from the pitch, coaching at Barking Town and working in the boot room at Upton Park.

Labour’s Renters’ Rights Act means:

🏠No more bidding wars to secure a tenancy
🏠Maximum of 1 month’s rent upfront
🏠Rolling monthly tenancies
🏠Fair rules for pets
🏠End to no-fault evictions

Taking a weight off of renters everywhere but especially is West Ham and Beckton.

Last week I joined the London Otters Rowing Club for their LGBT charity Rainbow Races in the Royal Albert Dock which raised over £1000.

Congratulations to the winning crews and all those that took part. Great to give out the prizes with the Newham First Citizen Rohit Dasgupta and support the club.

I joined St Martin’s Church Philippines Day event this afternoon.

A fun afternoon and great food with the Plaistow Filipino community and the wider church community celebrating the culture and heritage of the Philippines. 🇵🇭

A #smallbusinessshoutout for The Dockside coffee shop on the Royal Albert Dock.

A small business with a friendly team serving this part of the docks. If you’re there walking, watching the rowing or plane-spotting at City Airport it’s a good place for some refreshment!

Yesterday, I was at Cumberland Community School, to run a stall at their careers fair.

I was happy to answer their questions about the job of an MP and their staff. The next generation of voters are clearly interested in our democracy and how the country is run.

Food poverty is a big issue for many in our community.

It was good to visit the Breakfast club at Scott Wilkie with the Minister of Education and to hear how we are working with Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Weetabix to ensure our children start the day without being hungry.

I visited the TfL Lost Property office to see how they operate.

Alongside the weird and wonderful, there were hundreds of everyday items that had been handed in by kind strangers and thanks to the hard work of staff these are very often returned to their owners.

I attended the launch of the Social Art of Braided Hair exhibition at Beckton Globe Library.
