If, and it’s a big if, pigeons could understand English and also the concept of human beauty standards then I think they’d be rather annoyed about this.

England getting a lot of criticism after the first Ashes test, a lot of it fair, but the amount of it would lead you to think they have lost by an innings and let Australia score 600. Australia were out for 133 in the first innings and the match was decided by Travis Head going bonkers.

On hold with a plumbing company that has used an AI voice. It pronounces the name of the company wrong and says they are open from ‘8 aim to 6 aim’.

Walked past a bus stop I didn’t intend to stop at and then I saw this little dude and stopped to watch it for a while.

What a win for England against India! Did not see that coming at all.

The theme of the 2026 World Cup, judging by ITV’s coverage of the England-Latvia game, will be ‘people forgetting that Canada and Mexico are cohosts alongside the USA’.

@levparikian.bsky.social Hey Lev, any idea what this bird of prey could be? It’s the larger of the 3, being mobbed by some crows. Quite a bit larger, would glide and the flap one or twice and then glide again. Saw it near Mitcham Common today.

My most likely way I’m going to die is being run over by a car because I’ve stopped to look at a pied wagtail in a carpark.

Not a great time to be a South African batter, seeing spin bowlers ripping you apart and then Sophie Ecclestone pops up to start bowling.

Always awkward when a podcast you listen to has an episode where one of the hosts isn’t there and you find you enjoy it more than usual.

The BBC are dancing around what Trump is saying about autism when they should just be reporting it. Would they report it if some leader of a smaller nation did it? Just ignore the crazy senile old cunt until he leaves office/dies.

The new Aussie Strictly professional looks so much like an Australian fast bowler that I kind of dislike him already.

The US Open doubles thing, The Hundred and the FIFA World Club Cup: it’s been a summer of glorified friendlies.

My current bedtime routine with my son is to read a few pages of a big book of birds and then I tell him a story about one of the birds. Tonight he wanted a story about a peregrine falcon. I chose to focus on the beauty of flight, rather than it hitting a pigeon at 200mph, killing it instantly.

Made of the error of buying UFO 50 for the Switch during my lunch break because now my lunch break is finished and I have somehow stop playing UFO 50?

Watched Attenborough’s Parenthood on the iPlayer and the last 20 or so minutes including the behind the scenes bit is some of the most beautiful television you will see.

Today’s random memory of something that happened during Covid that I forgot happened: when Ladbible asked a question during the daily Covid briefing at Downing Street.

On the one hand rain ruining the last test would be a shame, it's always good to see a result possible. On the other hand, India celebrating saving the 4th test and the whole fuss about the handshake only for it to end up being pointless would be quite funny.
