One of my mother's friends has dementia. Her name is Jenny. She doesn't remember my name, but remembers that I'm the visitor who sings "they can never ever be Jennie/But have you ever met Jennie Jennie Jennie Jennie Jennie?" to her. I'm not a good singer/rapper, but she loves it. 💙

My mother would make homemade muguk/무국 — nutritious beef and radish soup — and drive over with my father, who was very sick at that time. She wanted to feed my baby but, more importantly, she wanted to feed her baby.

My final miscarriage was after my father's funeral.
