My favorite discworld song is The Wizard Staff has a Knob on the End. Because it has 3 interpretations. (1) It's a song about a wizard and his staff. (2) It's a song about male genitalia. (3) It a way of calling a wizard a dick without getting turned into a pumpkin.
And Tories won't create or back a bill for the usual reason. They'll make some noise. And then, just like all the other parties, will let it drop because they don't like to draw attention to lobbying, tax affairs, expenses etc. It causes a lot of "collateral" ( or capital if you like) damage.

What are they going to do? Mark him down as on indefinite leave and hope he doesn't turn up for debates / votes?
Understand Tories won't create or back a bill to remove Mandelson's peerage. There is unease among politicians in Westminster about the precedent of a government using its large majority to go after individuals, no matter how egregious. But mechanisms should still be there to expel him.

"i feel like Mandelson should get extra prison time just for how fucking dumb and obviously illegal this was" Yeah... it was so dumb he only got caught because the US fought tooth and nail to have Epstien Files seized and released. And even that was more to attack Trump. He would have gotten away..
