When Sir Keir Starmer chats with the US president today, could he please correct Mr Trump that, contrary to his public statement, in fact the British people are ‘not’ angry with our BBC about ‘fake news’.

So lovely to watch creatures that are plodders on land nip into the water and become as graceful as you like. Great clip.
A sea turtle surfacing by a MASSIVE school of rays near Clearwater, Florida a couple days ago. Another post into the BluSky void. Maybe 2 or 3 people will see this one and my time won't have been wasted. I'll keep trying a little longer. #nature #animals #amazing #wildlife #awesome #ocean

Anyone?
As a writer, I'm supposed to occasionally toot my horn. So consider this a toot. I have two series starters available free at your friendly neighborhood ebook retailer.

This weekend, let’s all do something nice for ourselves (e.g. breakfast in bed, a calm hour for reading/listening to music, a nature-watch walk), and then something nice for someone else.

Not best pleased that an extremely wealthy person aims to take from us Brits the TV licence fee that we pay.

Sorry to hear that the US government has run out of money. But wait - I just thought of a solution. For info, the UK is shortly to declare a budget that will pick some fruit from the top of the tree.

My recipe for a dressing for salad, avocado, chickpeas etc:
2 tbsp pomegranate molasses
1 tablespoon agave syrup
quarter tsp salt
1 tbsp mayo (vegan if required).
Place in a small jar and shake like mad.

Blooming’ Amazon. Delivery ‘tomorrow’ and I didn’t give special instructions. While out today, advised package out for delivery, came back. Later the package was dumped on neighbour’s doorstep, courier didn’t knock the door or ring the bell. No way to complain directly to Amazon.

Should a president, acting alone, threaten a city, & ergo its population, with financial punishment if they elect a specific mayoral candidate?

Eventually it became common knowledge that ‘cochineal colouring’ is made from crushed insects. So now it’s still used, just name-changed to ‘carmine’. I checked. So I shan’t be eating the leftover eyeball hallowe’en fairy cakes.

If I were a flying witch (which actually I’m not), I’d want something more comfortable than a broomstick.

Random first attempt at witches’ frogpond cookies- and look, there are tadpoles.

If we have visits on Friday from our local #trickortreat people, hope they will be satisfied with satsumas, scary mini cupcakes (e.g. eyeballs, spiders), and witches’ frogpond cookies?
October 30, 2025 at 10:49 AM
Does anyone else these days not only mend holes in their favourite socks, but *using a Bakelite mushroom*?
October 30, 2025 at 10:46 AM
Any #halloween trick-or-treaters rolling up on Friday are likely to go away with a satsuma and a witches’ frogpond cookie. Eurgggh.

Fireworks nowadays start with Diwali & keep going nightly for around 3 weeks (to include Guy Fawkes) in these parts. Hettie is v scared & cowers in corners. About to try a calming device but not too hopeful. I really hate fireworks. End of!

Here’s a good typo - an arts group to which we belong is arranging its Christmas event and, thrillingly, we shall be offered mice pies. Defo one for the diary - may take #cat Hettie to eat mine.

Some really heartening news about developments in medical treatments. The only downside is that some of us have lost loved ones and friends to those conditions, and we (or I) can’t help but think ‘if only’. But it’s still great news.

In the UK, I believe it is an offence to use social media to libel someone by pronouncing that they are, or have been, committing serious crimes. Just saying.
