Do you suffer with cold hands when cycling in the winter? In my experience, even the warmest cycling gloves on the market aren't up to the job when the temperatures really plummet.

You don't need an excuse to ride an e-bike. So many customers give various reasons why they feel they qualify for one, such as a long-term injury. But the truth is that e-bikes are a legitimate form of transport in their own right.

“The transformation is astonishing. [Paris] has quietly—& quickly—become one of the most bike-friendly cities in the world. What started as a series of emergency “coronapistes” or pop-up bike lanes, built during the pandemic has evolved into a permanent bike network spanning hundreds of kilometres.”
New Study Shows How Paris Pedaled Its Way to a Cycling Revolution
Cycling through central Paris meant weaving between buses and scooters—a bold choice reserved for the fearless few.

Listened to Rory Stewart grilling Zack Polanski on The Rest Is Politics. Rory’s been rightly critical of the Tories’ economic failures, and Labour’s continuing inability to improve our situation. I think he genuinely wants to hear something better.

So they really were planning to cap it?

Well, now is the time to support campaigns from bodies including the Association of Cycle Traders and the Bicycle Association in removing the "commute to work" element altogether.
Labour ditched Cycle to Work cap two weeks before Budget after deciding it “wasn’t worth the revenue”, as bike shops hail “common sense prevailing”
“E-bikes and cargo bikes cost more, but they’re the tools that make cycling practical for people who couldn’t otherwise manage it. A cap would have slammed the door on exactly the people we should be ...

Them: The Greens' proposed wealth tax is flawed because other countries with different tax systems have tried it and it hasn't worked.

Us: *highlights countries where it has worked*

Them: You can't use other countries with different tax systems as an example of how something can work!

Huge relief: Cycle to Work is untouched in today's Budget.

The salary sacrifice changes are specifically about pension contributions – the scheme that helps people swap their car for an e-bike remains exactly as it was.

UK: 29th of 30 countries for e-bikes 📉

Norway (NORWAY!): 17x more than us 📈

We can salary sacrifice £150k Porsches but not £4k bikes?

Bike industry at 1970s sales levels. Tomorrow's budget could finish us off.

A Government of cowards.

Rather than tackle inequality - they've gone for pensioners, disabled people and now it's people fleeing war and persecution.

They can't get away with this.

Since the counter was fixed, well over half a million cycle journeys have been made in less than two months. At peak times, records show that rush hour traffic consists of 250 motor vehicles ph in the am & 350 in the pm, considerably less than the number of bikes. Time for another cycle lane

This is what many of us have been saying. Part 3 of the Planning & Infrastructure Bill is based on a myth: that we don't have enough homes because wildlife and green spaces are protected. It will solve nothing, and inflict terrible harm on our remaining ecosystems

According to the FT, Rachel Reeves wants to cap the cycle to work scheme. This is lunacy, and represents a curb on what is effectively the UK's only active travel incentive.

This news is so dispiriting. Plenty of e-bikes around the £4,000 mark are absolutely not luxury items, such as this Tern. We should be expanding cycle to work. Especially when it seems the “drive to work” salary sacrifice scheme for cars will be untouched. www.cyclingweekly.com/news/taxpaye...

A £4,000 e-bike replaces a £35,000 car. An e-bike saves the NHS £1,400/year. An e-bike cuts emissions immediately. Yet Rachel Reeves wants to limit the cycle to work scheme while preserving tax breaks for £60,000 Teslas? Make it make sense.

Victoria Derbyshire dismisses the Green Party's wealth tax by citing that Switzerland's similar policy ONLY raises £9.5 billion a year.

Switzerland's population is about an eighth the size of the UK's, and its economy is about a quarter the size of ours.

So… we're right on the money?

An LMGFY for those who still haven’t got it. Green politics – and by extension the Green Party – has never been simply about the environment.

If you’re a journalist saying that we’ve “moved away from only talking about the environment”, you’re only demonstrating your own ignorance.

So tired of this loop…

Media: But isn't the trouble with the Green Party that it's just a single issue eco-party?

Green Party: Founded as the PEOPLE party, and has always had broad, progressive policies.

Media: Who do the Greens think they are, talking about anything other than the environment?
