It's snuggly cat season and I love it.
Yes, that does mean that sometimes the cat wanting snuggling has just come in from the rain and is soaking wet. A worthy tradeoff.

All is lush green and gray-cloudy out the window this morning. I'm not due at the theater until evening. What a perfect day to bottle up the blackberry melomel.

somewhat kinder than my interpretation
I've been thinking about Matt Furie a lot during this period of political frog realignment, so I made this comic dedicated to him.

wow! 🧵
In an unprecedented move, Austria is regulating rents for the entire country.

All apartments that already have government regulation have seen a total rent freeze this year.

All formerly unregulated units are also getting rent stabilization to limit landlord rent hikes.

Just returned from my union's open house event. I volunteered to man the wardrobe & costumes table for half the day & it was energizing. Talked with applicants, impromptu demo'd 2 kinds of repair (a couple folks had damaged hoodie/shoes and I had my kit there...) Chatted with the old timers. Nice.

Speaking of things that are 🔥🔥🔥, I still have 2 drams left of the batch of Abramelin oil we made in 2002. It was mixed over the course of a month in a three operator ritual. It's got drops of other batches from other places added over time. It's blood red and packs a punch, smells fucking amazing.

In this age where opinions flow like mighty (if detritus-filled) rivers all around us it is a real gift to be sought out and asked one's views on something important to the querent. A real gift.

Going through my folder of ritual writings, I came across a ritual of severance and gratitude that I wrote in 2002 and have no memory writing. As in I have no recollection of composing it. At all.
Even as an imagined thing that was never performed, it is 🔥🔥🔥

I have a big set of things to accomplish this week. I am excited to get to the other side of it, and know I will enjoy most parts of the doing. I don't know what part of me wants momentum to fizzle, though. I'm having to pep-talk myself more than expected. It's how I know these things need doing.

Stunning.

That it’s 2020 is — very much part of the piece, I reckon.

I experienced some much-needed humor and goodwill at the march yesterday. Feeling a little better in macro-terms. However, I am not so much enjoying the pokes in sensitive spots in my personal, micro-world. Housecleaning is not always fun. I look forward to the aftereffects, though.

Y’all here is a fun fact: Portland has a brand new volunteer organization called “operation inflation” that allows people to borrow inflatable costumes for protests. They just started a couple weeks ago and have like a 160 costume library (and counting because people keep donating).

No Kings might not “do anything” but it boosts morale and puts a bunch of likeminded people in the same place to meet each other and talk about other more useful things they’re doing. A clear net positive!

Already leaning into (near) future-me thanking (recent) past-me for making a whole lot of chicken stew for meals this week. Thank you, past-me. This stuff is so good. 100% comfort food for fall weather.

handy suggestion from one of my favorite meadmakers
Here is my recommendation:

Buy some of these. They're cheap. Use them when you think you should you should use them. Give them to people you love. Share them in neighborhoods where they might prevent collisions with oncoming "boats."

Spread the word. Go.
