Apparently, Chekhov actually said, "In descriptions of nature one must seize on small details, grouping them so that when the reader closes their eyes they get a picture." Thus, it's absolutely not about not telling, but about choosing what to tell.

The "show, don’t tell" advice has always puzzled me. It makes you neurotically check whether you’re accidentally telling instead of showing. But since you’re literally putting words together, you end up telling anyway.

I transferred all my writing to I Write Like. Even the bits of random thoughts and phrases I now keep there. It happened naturally because it opens fast, it's clutter-free, the writing field is huge and yet I still see all my documents on the left and the tools I need on the right.
