Belated announcement - it was a pleasure to have my discoveries in Worcestershire and Norfolk county archives of new Purcell sources covered by the Guardian! When I harp on at my colleagues about how they should make sure to comb archives, carefully this is why…

Sometimes I think about how I played viola at junior conservatoire at University of Michigan, & how they helped local state schools send kids to Interlochen every summer. Anyways the Umich head of strings got convicted for child sex trafficking & Jeffrey Epstein had a holiday home at Interlochen

Second in-person MedRen smashed 💪
Phenomenal work by @medren2025.bsky.social continuing an unusually anarchic conference tradition. This conference stands out among other musicology conferences for its unique combo of high levels of calibre, craic, and camp, and it was a delight to be a part of 🥰
July 4, 2025 at 12:42 PM
In hindsight signing up to do two papers at @medren2025.bsky.social might have been overly ambitious

Finally writing my long awaited hater paper for a conference and it is exhilarating

Happy pride, don’t forget to get a nice card for your wife’s bisexual twunk boyfriend and leave out cookies and milk for Cher xxx

It took nearly 11 years of the state trying to bankrupt us, wear us down, & destroy any sense that I belonged to a community or family. But they couldn’t, and now, the home office has conceded that I do in fact belong here: I have been granted Indefinite Leave to Remain. And I ain’t going nowhere.

Becoming reobssessed with the musical Le Roi du Soleil (2005) and realising that the gender binary consisted of two wolves inside me, both of whom are ready to tank the French economy through hyperinflation, political centralisation of economic decisions, and shiny trinkets

The thing about trying to get everyone to hate trans people is trans people are extremely funny and therefore it is very hard to get people angry at them, and facists HATE being laughed at. Oxford will always be queer, no matter how many busloads of boomer freaks the uni invites onto our streets ✊

All I’m saying is IREMUS have started working on an early modern music handwriting database, and if it’s one thing that will get a grant application for an English counterpart over the line it’s that we cannot let the French best us
