Biology meets hardware! Researchers at D-ITET’s Nano-TCAD-Group by Prof. Mathieu Luisier have implemented bio-inspired algorithms directly onto memristor hardware. By bypassing external computers and using physical laws for training, they save massive amounts of energy.

Breakthrough published in Nature Electronics! A research team at ETH Zurich’s IDEAS Group, headed by Prof. Hua Wang, has developed a new class of high millimetre-wave switches that could redefine future wireless and mixed-signal systems. Congratulations!

LIMES invited around 60 young women* to explore the study programmes in electrical and mechanical engineering. During the Schülerinnen*tag, the participants toured the campus, visited different laboratories, and attended inspiring presentations by female leaders from D-MAVT and D-ITET.

Researchers from D-ITET in a collaboration with the Aristotle University and Polariton have introduced a photonic/plasmonic artificial neural network that performs the signal processing at a fraction of the energy at high speed and with low latency.

54 first-semester bachelor’s students from the “Networks and Circuits I” lecture by Prof. Christian Franck turned theory into practice by building an electrostatic generator. They learned teamwork, creativity, and persistence – plus a few DIY tricks.
