Lineage in academia is more than what school and who trained you. As a team sport, academic ideas necessarily come from somewhere.
My thought lineage is rooted heavily in Tyler and Mayer but also Holling, Ostrom, and Baldwin.
Unpacking them is a fun, intellectually reinvigorating mental break.

Instead of listing my publications, as the year draws to an end, I want to shine the spotlight on the commonplace assumption that productivity must always increase. Good research is disruptive and thinking time is central to high quality scholarship and necessary for disruptive research.

An #AcademicSky lesson I’m learning and wanted to share.
As a rule (with exceptions!) don’t focus your energy on trying to un/remake systems in #highered.
Most of them are the elephant paths trod by other academics who didn’t quite have the time or training needed to make better calls.
