Every minute, 30 people have a stroke. Half will die. Most strokes are preventable, treatable & recoverable. We have the tools—now we need action. Urge world leaders to act on stroke at #HLM4. Sign the letter www.strokeactioncoalition.org/get-involved #StrokeActionNow #ActOnNCDs

Opportunities such as these are essential to building partnerships and develop a research agenda that is informed by the strengths, needs, and insights of those most affected.

This is a forum in which researchers and clinicians are given the opportunity to talk to each other about questions they have on aspects of neurorehabilitation and may inspire more clinicians to get involved in research.

1/ The term 'legal rights' seems to be used in many consent forms. Ours don't have 'regulatory authorities' (who are they, by the way?). Our generic consent form for minimal risk studies can be accessed here researchethics.ubc.ca/clinical-res....

2/2 Mines depart very slightly from these, mostly in the way some questions are asked and/or answered.

As I look at your example, I would probably want to substitute the term "responsible individuals" with "researchers" and reword #4. Does your ethics committee give you some leeway to do this?

The world’s first multisector advocacy movement dedicated to stroke, the Global Stroke Action Coalition, has issued an urgent call to action to address growing inequities in stroke. Without intervention; the burden of stroke is projected to rise by a further 50% by 2025. lnkd.in/e_zz3YGs

There is definitely a tension between procedural ethics and ethics-in-practice/situated ethics. I think those of us who conduct qualitative research or use community-based/participatory research approaches often have to be quite creative. Do you use lay information sheets?

It’s certainly the most comprehensive meta-analysis I’ve ever been involved with 🤓

TLDR: non-motor symptoms after stroke are common across domains and guess what? Not a great deal has changed in the last decade. A real wake up call to the field to address this huge unmet need
