Mom and science teacher. Knitting, Buffy, and Golden Girls are my comforts.
The lyrics in TLOAS make a lot more sense when we remember she had Joe Alwyn contribute to Folklore….

I can be excited about TS12 *and* live in a fog of constant anxiety over fascism, thank you very much. I’m surprisingly good at multitasking.

“Rebellions are based on hope.”
I just wanted to watch Rogue One while I worked on my sci-fi doodle test knit, so why am I crying?

It’s shark awareness day! I’ve had the chance to dive with sharks a couple of times and it’s not enough. They’re amazing animals that deserve our respect and protection.

Watching the Lorax with my kiddos and good lord, I wish it was that easy to overthrow a garbage person charging people for access to something that’s actually a human right.

Can we just send them all to Mars already? I’m so tired.

Found out my youngest was exposed to measles at daycare (was able to have one MMR dose already). From the bottom of my heart, fuck every single person who instilled doubt in vaccines, or refused to vaccinate. There’s a special place in hell for those who put our youngest and most vulnerable at risk.

RFK clearly doesn’t understand what autism is, but his stupidity aside, even people who can’t use the toilet on their own deserve to live and be accommodated in society to live their best lives. When did we lose sight of that? Human beings shouldn’t be treated like shit because they’re different.

Watching Jurassic World Dominion today because the rich asshole CEO gets eaten by dilophosaurus and that is beautiful to me.

Just amazed at Cory Booker’s stamina and ability to give an actual speech for over 24 hours. I would have been reading Animorph books dramatically and occasionally pausing to ask Ben Stiller if he would direct an Animorph series on Apple TV between seasons of Severance. You know. For democracy.

Getting very tired of being urged to message my senators to have them do their job like they’re fucking middle schoolers.

Went to the Stand Up for Science Rally in Seattle! It was so nice being around people who care. Also, nerds make the best signs.

Happy Valentine’s Day! Love is love is love, whether you’re cis or trans, gay, bi, straight, or pan. And the best way to show your kids that you love them is to get them vaccinated! 🥰

Finished one side of my reversible arctic cowl (thanks snow days!). I absolutely love how the aurora came out. Love the arctic deck by @pacificknitco.bsky.social!

The discourse around “vaccines cause autism” is wild to me. First of all, THEY DON’T. Second, even if they did, I’d still vaccinate my kids because I’d rather have them be neurodivergent like me than dead from a preventable disease. Vaccines save lives, are safe, and don’t cause autism.

The thing about a January birthday is that sometimes your plans get derailed by snow and sickness and the collapse of the US government. It’s a little sad. But at least there’s cake!

So if there are any other Swiftie knitters out there, the Romance doodle deck from #PacificKnitCo is very Swiftie coded. There’s even a “dear reader” card! Once I finish all of my doodle projects for my kiddos you better believe I’m making myself a cowl…

Watching Taylor Swift and Beyoncé concert films all day while knitting because if there’s ever been a time where female rage and making beautiful things from it needed to happen it’s now.

I will never not be angry that everyone in the government could rally around banning an app before banning assault weapons. I hate it here.

Listening to mashups from the Eras tour, and realizing I’m fine not being able to go live because if I had been stuck next to someone screaming the wrong lyrics out of key I think I would have thrown hands. Would love a studio album of the mashups though.

Watching Blue Planet 2 with 4 and he told me that he helps ocean animals by cutting the plastic off of them and putting it in the garbage. If everyone could be as empathetic as my preschooler we’d be so much better off.

I feel stupid for genuinely hoping that they would actually abide by the 14th amendment. He’s actually going to be president again. I feel physically ill.
January 7, 2025 at 1:55 AM

If we actually taxed the rich everyone would benefit. If we treated infectious diseases seriously everyone would benefit. If we actually acted against climate change everyone would benefit. How did we get to be so stupid as a species?

Really hope I’m not the only one who cuts onions, peels a super thin membrane off, and gets excited for how great it would look under the microscope for a plant cell lab…
