For the first time I’ve modelled a TV series engine, Salty the Dockyard Diesel. Given how much my wife loves him there’s no way I wasn’t going to build him!

Salty was, of course, made using the Heljan BR Class 07. He came apart quite nicely, but masking up the windows was a pain to do. He’s the second engine I’ve given proper weathering and I mostly winged it, but I think the result works. He shares his original number but I gave him lettering to represent his owner - the Port of Tidmouth Authority. His name written on him is something I feel that an affectionate driver might’ve done, written in chalk but later painted on. Shunting some wagons Salty is my wife’s favourite so naturally her engine has to meet him.
