Northern Gannet through the clifftop flowers. In the spring when they return to their North Sea colonies they gather nesting materials on the sloping cliff sides, providing some great and close views! #birds #wildlife

Within touching distance of a Grey Phalarope… It was just incredibly special being able to lift my head up from the camera and properly enjoy watching this bird at such close range. One of two down in Lymington over the weekend and an amazing lifer too! 🪶 #UKbirding

It was great returning to this spot to have a look for Ural Owls in Šumava NP, Czechia, and in exactly the same place where I’ve had an adult in previous summers, there was one of this years young! Fledged and already attempting to hunt for itself. We had incredible views over several visits.

A memorable recent encounter, walking along the edge of the 400 foot high cliffs of Flamborough’s coastline and peering down to see this Puffin just a couple metres away. We were able to leave the Puffin in peace and carry on down the path after the fantastic views. #birds #UKWildlife

A memorable moment recently watching several Short-eared Owls. This one made a close a flyby as it began to hunt in the evening! #birds #owls #wildlife

Local Kingfishers have been showing well recently! Lots of successful dives from this individual and he posed nicely at times too. #birds #wildlife #ukwildlife

Great-spotted Woodpeckers vying for the best territory. The freezing fog and covered their landscape in thick frost for days, so with food harder to find they tended to stick to the same tree for long periods of time. #birds #wildlife

A fantastic evening surrounded by Short-eared Owls y’day. Several individuals, including some close overhead flybys. Such awesome birds to watch hunt the rough coastal grassland! #owls #birds

Sparkling Violetear showing off its iridescence. Only saw a couple of these in the Ecuadorian cloud forest but they were stunning! This one posed for a few moments, before it got distracted with chasing another hummingbird off some flowers. #birds #wildlife #birding

Sometimes when you look up there’s a pair of eyes staring back! This Little Owl chick was exploring its surroundings and occasionally moved between nearby trees. Whilst waiting underneath one of them the owl chick finally appeared. #birds #owls #wildlife
