“My rent is too damn high.”

People are pissed. At both parties. Especially young folks who’ve been priced out, locked out, and left behind.

2026 is shaping up to be an anti-incumbent revolt. The politicians who win won’t be the ones pushing culture war garbage…

The institutional Democratic Party is guided by an almost pathological level of conflict avoidance in almost every direction. “What can we do to make the least number of people mad?” is just a bankrupt way to operate.

New life goal: buy a church, put a library in it, have a workspace near a stained glass window. Egregious pride flags will abound.
Not a metaphor. In fact an actual church building we bought. Krissy, Athena and I have work offices here, I have a library in the balcony, and the basement level has space for big parties and family gatherings, and guest quarters. Actually one of our best investments.

I mean, if they've mortgaged themselves by borrowing against their paper wealth, and that paper wealth drops precipitously via boycotts such that they are underwater on their loans, then you can definitely hurt them. There's a reason why a certain fashy billionaire is panicking right about now.
Another thought about boycott is that a billionaire makes so much money off of the money they already have, that it's very hard to impact that. Sure, a boycott can cost them money, which they make back doing absolutely nothing.

Watching Invincible Season 3 and I’m convinced that Mark is a coward. I can barely stand seeing him on screen… he’s 21 though… so I can’t be too mad at him? BUT COME ON.

Commission your friends for art. Give them dollars (this makes them happy) in exchange for drawing you like (this makes you happy). This is symbiosis. This is a healthy ecosystem.

Support your friends. Support art. Support your friends' art.

Hey, artists, in case you were wondering if your work matters: I'm a scientist working on climate change and biodiversity, and I would not be who I am today without The Lorax, The Secret of NIMH, Watership Down, The Last Unicorn, and The X-Files. I know I'm not alone. Thank you for all you do.

The real reason libraries are so valuable is that if anyone talks to you there, you can legitimately just shush them. Right to their face. And scowl too. Brilliant.

Lest we forget, it's the Heritage Foundation that planned this pain.

I'm reminded of Regan's "we have to consider the moral implications of what they do" moment.

I'm disgusted at this new god they've made.
