The conservation & restoration of Abbeyleix Bog stemmed from local action in 2000. In 2020 active raised bog had increased by 1250% in the preceding 11yrs with a reduction of C02 emissions of >50%.

When #ReViewingIreland went to Kerry earlier this month, one trip was the Maharees on the Dingle penninsula, where the community have restored their dunes by planting marram grass and fencing them off from trampling feet, cars, tents. #EPA_NLI_PiR @epaireland.bsky.social @nlireland.bsky.social
View from stoney beach of pathway to road, with chestnut wood fencing either side, and grassy dunes. The sky is blue with rippling white clouds that also are wispy from the wind. A pile of unused fencing is to the right, and a lifebuoy to the right. The stones are medium sized and some have a blue hue, perhaps from the blue sky above.

Metal waste at a waste facility in a heap, awaiting the crushing and mincing machines. The metal waste takes up the bottom two thirds of the images, and above a blue sky with wispy white clouds. It is an example of how waste can be oddly beautiful.
