Thousands of people are returning to Afghanistan after years or decades of seeking refuge in Pakistan. the Afghan Red Crescent, with the support of @ifrc.org, are at the border providing essential humanitarian support to the thousands of people returning.

After decades of seeking refuge in Pakistan, up to a million Afghans could face return to Afghanistan.

In response, the IFRC is supporting the Afghan Red Crescent to address the immediate & longer-term needs of 50,000 people. The IFRC has allocated funds from its IFRC DREF. bit.ly/4jsRaH2

Even one life lost is far too many.

Yet since the beginning of the year, 32 of our volunteers & staff have died or been killed while performing their humanitarian duties.

Today and every day, we must protect humanitarian volunteers and staff around the world.

It is heartbreaking to learn that 2024 is now the deadliest year for humanitarians.
