Very impressed/moved by a packed seminar room with on-point questions! Although the power outage cut my travel short, always feels so great to mingle with brilliant minds!
Today at CITP: Tuesday Seminar w/ @inyoungcheong.bsky.social presenting "AI Manipulation & Freedom of Thought" in Sherrerd Hall at 12:30pm. She'll examine how AI-driven manipulation challenges traditional understandings of freedom of thought in constitutional law.

Wonder why Claude decided to report users to the authorities? It might be because its constitution says Claude should choose responses in the long-term interest of humanity!

But what if we could leverage computational and legal tools to "debug" or "lint" AI rules/laws for ambiguity?

🧵!

Who is doing solid critical work about character.ai and related topics of intimacy, "AI girlfriends", addiction?

Surprised that the ACM Library doesn't turn up anything but maybe I need to wait for the #chi2025 and #facct2025 proceedings.

🚨OpEd+data: Meta is out of step with public opinion🚨
Zuck cut moderation b/c he said people no longer want it. But he's wrong!
We polled 1k Americans and most people, including majority of Reps:
i) want content moderation
ii) don't want Community Notes w/o fact-checkers
