(I also hope they utilize the Dreams tech)

With a team as creative and diverse as theirs I think they're incapable of playing anything truly safe to be honest. They will go simpler, probably more gameplay than creation oriented.

But whatever the final verdicts will be, I don't think words like average/familiar/unremarkable will describe it

I don’t know if this will go anywhere, but we gave it everything during last 5 years.
Here’s the full Trailer for AFTERBLAST - November 7 Release ❤️

New video! I'm learning Unreal Engine 5, or at least attempting to oof. I want my Dreams skillset back and I will fight for it one program at a time! Currently I'm about 81% sure I'll give up before getting anywhere, but hey, I once thought the same about Dreams as well :)

BG&E 2 actually looked super intriguing to me, I was legit hyped at the time.

If it still happens (lol) I'm expecting the typical 7/10 shallow meaningless story with 7/10 shallow wooden characters with 7/10 gameplay with 7/10 copy pasted content. I've sadly lost all respect for the company.

It's crazy how easy Ubisoft could make money if they weren't so stuck in their ways.

I'd add Far Cry Blood Dragon 2 standalone to that list, but honestly also a new Division and Watch Dogs. Just desloppified.

They should've killed the ubi formula 10 years ago. Shameful they can't let it go.

Okay this is driving me nuts. I'm making a video on the Battlefront games, and in my opinion they have never looked better than Endor, sunny, daytime. It looked incredible.

BUT FOR SOME REASON EVERY TYPE OF CUSTOM MATCH ACROSS BF 1 & 2 FORCES NIGHTTIME + RAIN WHICH LOOKS SHIMMERY AND BAD

Hahaha I fully understand where you're coming from. I don't think blocking is toxic to the person, I more think it's toxic to the environment. I'm just very wary of echo chambers and how they rile people up. Everyone is free to curate their perfect online world, but the real world suffers for it!

Spot on! Player guidance shouldn't become player conditioning. Getting them to look for specific developer placed signposts, streamlined over all AAA games.

The art of level design is making things flow without simply marking things. I agree getting stuck for a bit can be part of the fun as well.

So far the test of civil discussion on bluesky lol

Disagree? Blocked, instantly. People on social media take the most hostile stances and consider any sort of pushback blasphemy.

Closed mindedness is toxic as hell, but it's celebrated everywhere. Can't even talk about videogame yellow paint...
December 30, 2024 at 2:25 AM
Hot take: taking playtests seriously doesn't just mean responding to players getting lost, it also means responding to players having immersion broken through excessive handholding.

Don't disregard the yellow paint complaint as nitpick, recognize it as genuine feedback and find a solution.

Headset is smooth 25% of the time, controllers become visible 20% of time, but not with stable tracking. When it all kind of alligned I still couldn't set up play area because the headset cameras didn't "understand" the environment for some reason 😑😑😑

Honestly clueless on further steps

Been trying to do psvr2 PC and it has been an absolute nightmare.

Despite getting the exact stuff sony recommends, I'm still troubleshooting with no end in sight.

Choppy 5fps headset, controllers not tracking. It'll kinda work one time and then doesn't the next 10 tries.

It's so frustrating watching these internet battles play out and understanding it all.

Understanding both sides, understanding their misunderstandings as well.

Radicalization is everywhere. Why TF do I feel like the adult in a room full of toddlers. Does nobody remember how to discuss ideas?
December 16, 2024 at 12:38 AM
This. To me the setting looks cool, sounds cool, radiates ''cool''. Almost gave me Far Cry Blood Dragon vibes. I'm down for something over the top and cheesy, but hopefully still sincere.

I'm all for passion and criticism, but ideology driven hate overshadowing discussion is starting to piss me off

I'm honestly over the moon that Naughty Dog is making a new game. I was so scared ND would become stuck with 1 IP, like Guerilla, Sucker Punch and Santa Monica.

I don't like what Neil did with TLOU2 at all but he's still a great writer and ND is still a legendary studio. I am optimistic.

Game awards were amazing this year? A lot of announcements that finally get me excited again.

Also on a show like this, I do think it's bold and shows good faith that they're able to make fun of their own shortcomings of previous years and fix them systematically. This is how it's done.
December 13, 2024 at 10:47 PM
I've come to accept that I'm just not an indie game guy. I think it's wrong for people to diminish AAA's complete collapse by pointing out some indies are doing well. I love spectacle, I love graphics, I love cinematic influences and detailed worlds.

Those games deserve to be made and made well.

Playing Half Life 1 for the first time. It's so much fun to experience something from before game design became so streamlined, hand holdy and boring.

I have felt smarter opening a door in Half Life than solving entire world ending stakes puzzles in Horizon.

Ah my first words on Bluesky: Playstation's Dreams to this day is revolutionary and I refuse to stop talking about it until it gets the respect it deserves. Here my retrospect on it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet:
