I don't usually tease cool things way before they're ready (maybe I do) but @angrytetris.bsky.social and I have been working with another great designer on a super duper fun design. Last night John and I made such great progress, I'm just buzzing today. That's the addiction of game design. π€π₯π€―β‘β¨ππ€©

I stayed up till 4am playing No Man's Sky on my Steam Deck and was super late for work the next day. Why didn't anyone tell me this game is addictive AF?!

We've decided to group games by holiday and only bust them out seasonally. It does two things: hides games away for a cleaner look (given our limited shelf space) AND it creates incentive and excitement to play games that are only gonna be out of the attic for a short time.

I bought the Christmas Lights card game a couple years ago on sale and learned quickly why it was only $5. π¬ We didn't love the game. But it's a cute card set, so I created a fun variant. Posted my new ruleset to BGG a few min ago with Chad's blessing. boardgamegeek.com/filepage/313...

I played a lot of Euchre in college. Loved it. But there's so much luck and after awhile you realize there's only ever one way to play a given hand so it starts to feel automatic. I would never choose to play Euchre over Spades at this point.

I brought a large swath of games to Thanksgiving weekend. And we didn't play a single one. My bro in law bought wireless mics for Karaoke and that became an every-night event. So much for board games! Karaoke is the way. π€£
