In Progress is a non-profit arts group. It was established in 1996 with the purpose of paving the way for new voices in the field of digital media.
IP artist Tiana LaPointe met with TsuKing this week. They spent time reviewing the footage he captured from his very first production, then set short and long term goals. TsuKing is working to complete his short script and will begin production next month after more technical training.

The Awakening Tea Circle was an opportunity for individuals to share their awakening story, and how it led them to discover their passions and higher purpose. We engaged in enriching, soul-nourishing conversations and formed amazing connections.

IP artist Tomas Leal met with a mentee this week. They spent their time getting familiar with lighting. They worked on strobe light set up and troubleshooting lighting techniques, along with practicing proper exposure at different apertures as they discussed depth of field.

Tomas, Jayla, and Aaliyah hosted the final Family Portraits session of this year, with 20 out of the 25 families who signed up coming in. The three artists worked hard to make sure everyone left satisfied and in a timely manner. They all look forward to next year’s Family Portrait plans.

IP artist Tyson met with fellow artist Taliyah this week. They focused on flyer and print design exploration during the session. Taliyah learned layout basics, embedding/linking images, clips and masks, RGB vs CMYK, and more. They also spent time discussing the new Affinity software and its uses.

We held another Conversations session on November 8th led by IP artist Raina Otoun. On this night, we were graced with Katie Wonzala, a locally based therapist, and Victor Obisakin, a parent and community leader that has been a part of In Progress for more than 5 years now.

It was great to introduce IP artist Cassie Opia to the community of Crookston. This town is the birthplace of In Progress and this abandoned church has marked the landscape of what we now call our 2nd home. We drove around looking at fields, small business, and more.

"Anooj izhitigweyaa i'iw ziib - honoring the tradition of collecting and sharing stories" is an incredible exhibit that is part of our Waterers series. It will be housed at our Saint Paul studio, and later travel to different communities in northern Minnesota.

Our Joy of Being crew have been meeting to determine the next steps in honoring stories of our LGBTQ+ individuals and their families. We have already recorded a number of podcasts and are working on portraiture with our participants, planning to open an exhibit in January.

On October 16th of this year, IP artist and Board Co-chair Sai Thao was honored by the Saint Paul and Minnesota Foundation though their Facing Race Awards. It was a great event filled with friends and families of some of the most extraordinary leaders in our state.

IP artist Simmia met with Lola, who is just beginning her music production journey, last week. They went over what a DAW is and explored different types such as FL Studio, Logic Pro, and Pro Tools. In their next session, they will explore beat production and foundational production skills.

IP artist Simmia met with Bella for the first time last week. They spent the session discussing each others' musical goals and did an introduction to Logic Pro. Bella learned how to navigate the Logic Pro interface. In their next meeting, they'll focus on studio safety and composition fundamentals.

IP artist Simmia met with KD and Delo last week. They used the session to explore sound selection and BPM ranges. Low BMP often creates an emotional or relaxed feel, while a higher BPM conveys excitement and movement. Their next session will continue with beat-making and different production styles.

Modern Hmong Girl hosted its first-ever Girls Day Out with 15 attendees coming together to bond, create lip balm keychains, enjoy icebreakers, food, and mocktails. The event successfully fostered new friendships, laughter, and a space for women to be unapologetically themselves.
