In late 2017, during repaving work at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, a cylindrical core sample was extracted, revealing a remarkable record of 108 years of resurfacing. The sample contained layers of brick, stone, & asphalt, showcasing the evolution of the track's surface over more than a century.
