The Afghanistan Media Support Organisation (AMSO) organised its 3rd Annual Global Summit on Afghanistan’s Press Freedom in Berlin today. Wahida Faizi, IMS’ gender coordinator for Afghanistan, was a speaker on a panel to discuss the challenges faced by Afghan women journalists.

Philippine journalist Noel Bellen Samar, who was shot on Monday, has passed away. The murder underscores the threat journalists face in the country. Philippines ranked 9th on the CPJ 2024 Global Impunity Index, which ranks countries on how much they allow murderers of journalists to go unpunished.

Two Afghan journalists have been confirmed killed in the clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Abdul Ghafoor Abid, a reporter for RTA Paktia, was reporting on the conflict from Zazai Maidan in Khost province when he was killed when Pakistani forces allegedly opened fire.
