October 7 demolished the last restraints on Israel’s annexation of the West Bank. "Two-states" is dead. The only solution left is for the UN, led by the democracies, to impose a secular democratic government on the region, with all citizens - Arab, Christian and Jewish - guaranteed equal rights.

The cave in is old news already, but it's emblematic and we can't forget. When Trump is gone and we establish a new (4th?, 5th?) republic, the Democratic Party as presently constituted will be incapable of pursuing the radical reforms necessary.
