Can we please get rid of all of this shit in TV wrestling? It’s 2026. Almost 30 years of the same storytelling devices & show formats.

While we're reminiscing about TNA's history of laughable show debuts, I'd like to remind everyone of the little-remembered debut of "Impact Wrestling" in 2011 which featured Abyss winning the X Division title and Eric Bischoff pinning The Young Bucks.

I had a random inkling during Christmas break to watch Bond films. Not necessarily sure why, as it's not like I've ever been a massive fan. Anyway, I think On Her Majesty's was my favourite film but with the weakest lead performer. The latter became clear after watching just a few scenes with Moore.

Thinking about how easy it would have been to ask Cody for a personal photograph of him and his dad, so they could make a copy of it and use that for the angle. Instead they burned a glossy 8x10 of a studio photoshoot and had Cody pretending to cry even though there are infinite copies in the world.

Miu Watanabe and Suzume had potentially the best match in TJPW history. They went all out and did some of the most high difficulty spots of their careers. What was particularly great about the big moments of the match was how un-telegraphed they were. They caught Korakuen totally off guard.

Takeshita vs Tsuji was match of the night in my opinion. They everything right and everything they needed to. It was basically a perfect "make a guy match". I don't have any notes. Takeshita looked like he owned the building and Tsuji looked like the man.

The "Brock Lesnar Guy" isn't retiring. He's purposefully making himself a punching bag because engagement now has a monetary reward. This is an everyday grift on Twitter.

The finish to Takeshita Vs. Okada was very lame. A match between two incredible wrestlers should not end in a fake looking weapon shot in full view of the referee. This should be a cause for reflection for all involved, because they screwed up something that should be unscrew-up-able.

Kento Miyahara had a match of the year contender with Yuma Anzai this morning. Kento is entering his 10th straight year as one of the best in the world. the struggle over the straight jacket suplex never fails to hook me. I'm always on the edge of my seat watching Kento do that routine.

What Regal wrote isn't "wrong" necessarily, it's just annoying because it's missing key facts. It's very similar to the concern trolling of modern wrestlers by pointing to the poor example of wrestlers from the past. "I just don't want Ospreay to end up in a wheelchair like my heroes" etc.

The Continental Classic was p. much everything that one can reasonably desire from a round robin tournament. The in-ring peaked very high, several angles were furthered, there was a breakout performer in Kevin Knight and the finals could go in several directions. Ws all around.

Fletcher Vs Perry was a great match but I wish it could have ended a few minutes earlier when the match was still at its peak. Perry didn't need a third wind as he had already gotten a big comeback. Also Fletcher is pushed and doesn't need to go 50:50 with a guy clearly positioned underneath him.

One of the few genuine pro wrestling *stars* going today, in the strict sense. Her face on a poster sells actual tickets that wouldn't have been sold otherwise.

I just watched Iyo jumping off the Wargames cage in a trashcan and this was Becky's ludicrous facial expression, in reaction to a spot that couldn't have looked more choreographed and safe. I think it sums up the modern product pretty well. A completely phony reaction to a phony looking spot.

For no real particular reason, I've never counted Zack Sabre Jr among my favourite wrestlers, and yet whenever I see him I think the world of him.

A pretty stellar showing for the C2 on Collision. That tournament is, again, doing everything that you'd hope a wrestling tourney would do. It's delivering fully on its premise and getting me more excited for the product than I would otherwise be.

Mercedes and Red Velvet had a really good, relatively short midcard match. Velvet came out looking the best she has ever looked. It basically did everything that a 3rd match on the card can do without burning through big spots and nearfalls.

The first minute of Nigel Vs Lee had me a bit worried. They did some cosplay Johnny Saint stuff that I'd rather see left behind forever in 2009 Chikara.

However, it drew me in p. quickly and I was loving it by the end. Nigel can still just straight up go. He's great.

I saw The Righteous debut in TNA. I'll never understand what possesses wrestling companies to make them do the Sabu entrance for people who aren't stars. It's really quite a mean thing to do. If it doesn't get a big reaction from the crowd, then it's utter death.

The sheer audacity of this ahistorical, Dave Meltzer hate, is really outrageous. Dave gave this match and its predacessor, three and three quarter stars. And that's before Daveflation, when those numbers meant something.

This should be remembered as a top twenty worst angle of all time. I fear however that it's going to be forgotten in favour of the usual suspects like Judie Bagwell and Katie Vic. This was only four years ago.

Some Collision thoughts:

Pac Vs. Mike Bailey was fantastic. I love the new Pac and I have a feeling this run is going to be some of the best work of his career.

The Eddie Kingston promo was a bit too CM Punk for me. I don't like this 'I'm shootin cus I'm a wrestler, not an entertainer' stuff.

Didn't really love what I saw of Full Gear. I thought there was a lot to be dissatisfied with, particularly with regards to the crowd.

Why is it that whenever 90/00s WWF lifers pitch ideas, it's something utterly nonsensical, counter productive, and often slathered in worked-shoot claptrap? What is it with that particular generation and having terrible ideas?

The new Babish videos are really good and such an improvement over that period when he was trying to copy Mr. Beast.
