Thank you Michelle Hurd . Your kindness and love is contagious <3 and your support for children's access to diverse and inclusive books will help us fill the bookshelves of many communities in need of these resources. Right now it is more important then ever to support books.

The principle on the second day of Kwanzaa is Kujichaguli, self-determination.
I felt this book encompasses this principle in a way children can understand and relate to. (I am not Black.

This picture book addresses the racism that a Black child may encounter while growing up. It is a challenging read, so it is advisable for parents to review it before sharing it with their child.

Right now we need to make sure diverse books stay on the bookshelves of our local libraries. This may mean donating banned books because the library can't order them.

While this picture book doesn't describe in detail the horrors of the Holocaust, it does open the doors to discussion for young readers. The author wrote this book in the way young children read. Repetitive words and patterns in the story.

This a very sweet story about a father and his son driving across the Texas border to help refugees in a border town. The book shows the family and how they follow the policies that are in place to go to Mexico in a way understanding to children.
