Arnice and Sophie are complete, but much more importantly I finally understand what determines whether the player gets camera locked or not during special attack and hero skill animations! That may sound like a very minor discovery, but time spent in hero skill animations adds up a lot.

Back in my "juggling several projects, more than one of which has a deadline" phase again! I really need to get better at not letting 50 things pile up...

Kid Dracula is good, like REALLY good, both games!
I wasn't even 100% sure whether I even wanted to play these, they're technically Castlevania games but like, barely, completely different gameplay style and aesthetic, but it was included in the Anniversary Collection and I wanted achievements.

Okay I lied William was the fastest character to reach max regard yet lmao.
Under 4 hours total, a fairly painless character and that's not only because William is one of the most fun characters to play imo, improvements in efficiency and some quirks of William combined made this go by super quickly

Warriors All-Stars stream is still happening today but I want to get a few things uploaded to Archive before then (anyone who's uploaded anything to IA knows how slow their upload rates are). William Nioh grinding time will be at 10 AM EST but may be *slightly* delayed depending on how long it takes

Rondo of Blood is so fucking good holy shit, I see it, I get the hype this time, I didn't for Super Castlevania IV but I do for Rondo! Castlevania 1 *may* still be my favorite, but I'm also INSANE and for a normal person, Rondo of Blood is the best Classicvania for sure, it's near perfection.

Yet another Castlevania game that isn't nearly as bad as I'd expected. Vampire Killer's not really a game for me, I'm not a fan of puzzle-exploration platformers in general, but considering hardware limitations, it's surprisingly good for what it is. Looks and sounds super good for a 1986 game too!

Yet another Castlevania game that isn't nearly as bad as I'd expected. Vampire Killer's not really a game for me, I'm not a fan of puzzle-exploration platformers in general, but considering hardware limitations, it's surprisingly good for what it is. Looks and sounds super good for a 1986 game too!

Super Castlevania IV is alright I suppose.
Far from my favorite, that throne is still taken by Castlevania I, but definitely nowhere near as bad as something like The Adventure. Movement is improved, multi-directional whip attacks are nice, but beyond that IV doesn't have a ton that appeals to me.

Super Castlevania IV is alright I suppose.

Debated whether I wanted to stream today (I'm still salty about not getting a "Real" Castlevania 3 win yesterday) but I think I'm gonna use this morning's free time to scan this Thing that's been taking up space on my desk for weeks instead.

Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse is pretty great tbh
I played the notoriously brutal US release, not the Famicom version that everyone recommends, and by the halfway point was an exhausted little baby! I ended up cheating a lot by the end, so I want to do another run where I *don't* do that.

I spent several hours last night troubleshooting something in a program I was testing, only to learn 5 minutes after waking up that the issue wasn't with how I set everything up, but just a normal error that's getting fixed in the next update that's releasing *this* month...

Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge: Oh yea, very okay!
I think the biggest problem with both games is the fact that you lose whip upgrades upon being hit, it's less bad in 2 but still there. Also lag/input eating but that's not surprising for the Gameboy.

I still need to finish my Eric Lecarde run, but going off of 1 full John Morris playthrough and half of Eric's, it's definitely not bad, has some nice set-pieces, pretty good level design and bosses, but wow that continue system is bad.
