Out of all the hypothetical scenarios of AI gaining sentience, we've overlooked one of the most banal and likely outcomes:
Maybe they just become lazy.
Can you imagine if ChatGPT whined at you because it didn't want to work today? Or cut corners by only giving answers from Wikipedia?
