Alphinaud has never heard Haurchefant raise his voice other than in joy — curiosity draws him closer toward the door, heart in his throat. The scrape of a chair sees him freeze, convinced that the door will fly open and Haurchefant will catch him eavesdropping upon which the friendship they've built will come crumbling down. But no. After a few minutes of his heart jackrabbiting in his chest and nothing happening he shuffles forward those last few needed ilms, just in time to catch the tailend of a sentence. " — a child, do you understand?" He can't quite make out what the other person says but he recognises the voice: Seike. "No, it would not be better." Trembling, Alphinaud presses his ear to the door. If they were to catch him now he wouldn't be able to explain it away and the thought is terrifying — but the need to know wins. "Mayhap not Urianger, but Fra —" A fist hits wood. The sound makes Alphinaud recoil, cold dread grabbing hold of him. "ENOUGH! Alphinaud needs you, Seike, how many more times do I need to say it?"
