Over the last year, KYUK, NPR and ProPublica have documented a health and safety crisis inside many rural school buildings across Alaska. The state has largely ignored hundreds of requests from rural school districts to fix deteriorating buildings.

NPR found startling differences in auto insurance rates between drivers with poor credit and those with excellent credit — often thousands of dollars per year. There were also large differences between insurance companies across states and ZIP codes around the country.

An MLK50 analysis of arrest records found that nearly 75% of the 51 people arrested Oct. 13 were not charged with a violent crime.
