Where have I been? 🐛
Hi, typing this on a doc for space purposes. As I'm sure a few have noticed, my activity has dropped substantially, not just on bluesky, but on twitter and other spaces as well. This doc is mainly for bluesky purposes however. To put it bluntly, I have been spending more time on discord and keeping to myself, due to multiple issues, but mainly because I dislike having a platform of any sorts. I think the easiest way i can put it is like this: For many years online, I have been surrounded with “popular” creators, idolizing them and wanting to be them. I have been burned by the majority of them, no matter where I go. warrior cats , animation meme, furries, whoever. As a result, every time it happened, I became more standoffish. I became more defensive, more paranoid, more scared. About 2 years ago, a bad event happened as I left for college. I went through a breakup associated with allegations from another party, who I will not name as to respect their boundaries and my own. My partner and I broke up, and we did terrible things to each other. My friend's group fractured. I trusted them, so morphed into an attack dog. Things were not the same after that. It worsened my mental issues more than before, as I had gone cold turkey due to recurring issues with staying on insurance. I would be paranoid due to things the group had told me, what others told me I was in danger of, or how they were being hurt. The attempts I made in my life spiked. There were multiple issues I had. I was not a saint, I lashed out on others during my episodes and I have since been working on it. However, it revealed issues that had always been there in that group. More and more I became uncomfortable with being known, having my identity in a way tied to them. I kept silent until I reconnected with my ex partner. I was cut off soon after the friend found out, I have no clue how to this day, but I accepted it. I underwent a rebrand to start clean and because I lost access to my previous twitter account. I tried cleaning up my act and working on owed properly, even despite my issues, because in the end, I took money from people and they deserve their art or their money back. I am still working on my backlog to this day and am proud of the effort and progress I have made. However, I never felt truly comfortable. I still felt paranoid, I felt scared to interact with others, I didn't want anything to do with being online anymore. I tried to work past that, as I need some form of platform to make money, since art is my only income, but I still felt distant. When I got my first job after searching for so long, it was great, even with all the issues I had regarding that job. not cause i liked working it, but i liked not being so dependent on my platform for funds. I was able to start refunding folks regularly, buy myself things I needed, better my diet, go OUT with friends. Even with my pay being so small, I loved just not needing to keep up a schedule, regularly post, and talk to people who I enjoyed being with. I was saddened that I had to quit that job, due to a multitude of issues with the job itself, but also with my mental health. I am still searching for a job. I can work despite my issues to pay for insurance out of pocket and get my life on track, but I haven't found anything yet. I have tried my best since to keep myself afloat, while limiting the amount of work I take on, but it’s terrible and I barely survive. Since then I have pulled away more and more online, and I have also been coming to the realization that I do not enjoy being online anymore. Multiple issues I have had online seem nonexistent. I do not have to worry about groomers, pedos, zoos, whatever. I don't need to background check everybody I talk to, and I do not need to appeal to anyone. It's freeing and peaceful. Those I do consider in my circle online are very sweet and quaint, I never feel fear with them. Overall, keeping to myself and keeping offline has greatly improved my mental health. As a result, I've been less focused on being on my main account. Most commissions I get are from the discord servers i'm in. Activity has naturally gone completely down, and I have little to no reach, but I don’t mind as much. I feel at peace. For now, I don’t plan to be heavily active, maybe when I get back on medication and can handle being more in the public eye, i’ll pick back up where I left off, but that’s not possible at the moment. I do plan to pick up an irl job again and start back up with refunds, as my end goal has always been to move off dependency of freelance, get my queue fully down, and make my irl situation better. Until then, my “brand” accounts will become more so as a personal log and portfolio. I will still be accepting commissions until I get work, and I am still actively working on my queue, but I will not force myself to be under the public’s eye anymore. I want to hang out with friends, draw, work on self improvement, and talk to my partner. This does not mean I am unreachable. I am always active in discord. I also enjoy making friends, if you are willing to get past my shy phase. Do not hesitate to reach out, whether it be for work or for friendship. I will try my best to regularly check PMs on other social sites, but my discord will always be the best to reach me. I thank you for all your patience with me over the years, and hope a few of you will stick around to see me post a few doodles every now and then. Until then! 🌱
