I write about whatever crosses my mind. Lately it’s been a mix of reviews, media analyses, and some fiction.

Few people have seen the alligator’s endangered cousin the someigator. Herpetologists still mourn the end of the alligator’s extinct cousin the noneigator.
It’s a good day to be a pluviophile.

The Joys of Fatherhood

As I sit here brushing my daughter’s hair, I think about how blessed I am to have her in my life. I think of the way she eagerly pulls blankets up to her chin and tucks herself in. I think of the smile on her face when she realizes I’m putting her shoes on so we can go…
The Joys of Fatherhood
As I sit here brushing my daughter’s hair, I think about how blessed I am to have her in my life. I think of the way she eagerly pulls blankets up to her chin and tucks herself in. I think of the smile on her face when she realizes I’m putting her shoes on so we can go outside. I think of the way she happily says “Dance! Dance!” as she dances along to music in the way of a toddler. Being a father is not always easy. I don’t love the tantrums where she kicks and flails.

Hollow Knight Impressions

Hollow Knight Impressions
I have this interesting habit of being aggressively apathetic toward critically acclaimed video games and then—years after they release—suddenly becoming interested in and falling in love with every aspect of them. I knew that Hollow Knight has a passionate fanbase that has been eagerly awaiting the release of Silksong, but I knew nothing else about the game and didn’t really care to. When Silksong finally got a release date a week and a half ago, the excitement I had been experiencing second-hand started to infect me, and I started looking into…

Most “POV” posts would work better—i.e. actually work—if the poster would just omit the “POV”.

Is it just me experiencing the Baader–Meinhoff phenomenon, or has there recently been an increase of people breaking dependent clauses off from the rest of the sentence with a period?

Sometimes I like to see if I can get from one specific movie/show/actor to another via mutual works. Today’s mental exercise was getting from Chris Pratt to Chris Evans without going through Marvel.

Blocking Cocomelon on YouTube Kids is the most annoying game of Whac-A-Mole ever.

This weekend, I tore open a lollipop that plays music to see what was inside:

Amos TastySounds Audio Lollipop Teardown
Last week, I was at the grocery store when I saw a display of audio lollipops. They reminded me of the Tooth Tunes toothbrushes. I was curious about what was inside and searched the internet but wa…

I wrote a short story a little over a year ago that I hadn’t published before now. This weekend I decided it was time for “The Raven’s Task” to see the light of day.

The Raven’s Task
The raven hopped along the roof, following the people walking in the street down below. As it did so, it heard them talking about the man they were going to visit. They were healers, and a man in t…

When you’re driving and you come to a stop sign or a red light, you’re legally required to stop. It’s not that hard.

It’s especially important if that stop sign is before a crosswalk in a store parking lot where someone is actively crossing with a shopping cart.

Why are people who recklessly almost cause crashes frequently so unapologetic about it? This guy didn’t give any indication that he’d almost caused a head-on collision, and he never tried to stop blocking traffic.
