The UK's top ten selling cars of 2025 is conclusive proof that the UK public has terrible taste in cars and we should be telling them what to buy not selling them what they think they want.

I know we’re all worried about the energy used by Google and other digital services but I’m not sure asking the Transport Minister your question in parliament instead is a better use of resource.

This was inevitable the moment we heard rumours about road pricing for EVs. With the lobbying in Europe I’m surprised it took this long honestly. www.telegraph.co.uk/business/202...

This is an awful story. Absolutely a cultural change needs to happen. I regularly run, walk and cycle on country lanes, I’d say the majority of drivers don’t even slow down. Just expect you to get out of their way.

Very weird to see so many takes on this along the lines of if it's just a little mistake, things happen. Someone down the chain did an oopsy.

Why did that someone even have the ability to make that mistake?!

It's not the Office for Budget Carelessness people.
December 1, 2025 at 5:29 PM
I have been involved in publishing market sensitive announcements for many years so that may be the reason for the different perspective. It would be unforgivable for a listed company to make a mistake like this. Just the fact they use Wordpress is enough to tell me something is systemically wrong.
December 1, 2025 at 5:24 PM
Not setting up the safeguards and governance to ensure it isn't possible to make the mistake? Such as not using Wordpress, a free blogging platform which is not designed for this purpose, to run the website? It's the OBR, this isn't a typo in a local business' Facebook post.
December 1, 2025 at 5:03 PM
How did he have nothing personally to do with it? He was the Chair and thus has ultimate responsibility. Just because he didn't personally click the button marked 'publish' in Wordpress doesn't mean he's not responsible for the series of failures that made that mistake possible.
December 1, 2025 at 4:51 PM
I should add I have also had to schedule market sensitive announcements, for one small cap company. I would simply not have even countenanced using Wordpress for that. We had specialist software, obviously.

But the OBR was doing exactly that?
December 1, 2025 at 4:42 PM
There’s something so insane about the OBR’s website being run on Wordpress.

The number of times I’ve double and triple checked the scheduling of a relatively inane blog post because I don’t trust the time zone setting.

And that is literally what tripped up the UK’s fiscal regulator last week?!

I will précis this by saying we are ON IT with EV hub signage and the problem is getting sorted. But that doesn’t stop this being a superb bit of PR from @gridserve.bsky.social. Bravo guys.

Yes true. I’ve left my pump for weeks at a time and found it’s held its charge. That could equally lull me into a false sense of security though!
October 24, 2025 at 2:36 PM
Yes! But also one more thing I need to remember to make sure is charged before I head out on my bike. Now - bike computer, Di2 gears, front light, back light/radar, phone aaaand electric pump. Plus power meter and heart rate monitor, though those rarely need it I'm sure they'll catch me out one day.
