Yes, Henry Cavill is a great ambassador for the hobby, however, Peter Cushing would be my personal choice for 'Warmaster of Wargaming.'

If I'm not wrong, I believe he has a copy of HG Wells' 'Little Wars' in the last photograph too. 👍
Donnington Castle was held by Royalist, Sir John Boys. In October 1644, Parliamentarians laid siege to it and the garrison held out for 18 months. Sir John surrendered the castle in April 1646 and was allowed to leave with all his men. The castle was slighted after the war.

HeroQuest:

My brother's Wizard is now finished. I'm really happy with this one, especially the cape.

My son's Elf will be next. 👍

HeroQuest WIP:

My brother likes using fireball spells, so I'm giving his wizard a freehand fiery cape. 👍

HeroQuest:

The Dwarf is my nephew's character and due to his obsession with searching every room for treasure before anyone else, I decided to add a dropped coin purse on his base. The Dwarf model has loads of rings on too. It really helps sell the idea he hoards all the loot!

Heroquest:

I finished my stepdad's Barabarian character and even though the miniatures aren't the best moulds on the market, I'm really happy with the way this chap turned out.

Onto my nephew's Dwarf next. 👍

Heroquest WIP:

I've decided to paint all the miniatures and terrain from the Heroquest box. I added some flag stones and basing texture to the bases too. I should get the Barbarian finished tomorrow.

English Civil War:

WIP on a Battalia Colonel. I just need to add some highlights, the flag and finish the base. I'm not entirely sure what flag the standard bearer is supposed to have, maybe a generic English flag? I'll have to do a little research.

English Civil War:

My Parliamentarian saker battery is finished. I may add weathering powders to the mud at a later date, but for now, I'm happy with them.
I also decided to to drill put the barrels of the guns, for some added detail.

I really enjoyed painting these. 👍

English Civil War:

I've finished painting the Warlord Games Parliamentarian Sakers and crews. I've just got to stick them together and get the bases done. I've got 3 falconet light guns and crews to do next.

More soon. 👍

And with that, our monthly Heroquest meet up has come to an end. Dice were rolled, wounds were received, loot was found and wandering monsters slain.

Above all that though, 2 more quests were completed and a lot of fun was had!

Farewell adventurers. Until next time. 😄👍

The Siege of Basing House (1643-45): Royalist John Paulet, 5th Marquess of Winchester, defended his home from multiple Parliamentarian attempts to seize it. It was finally stormed by Oliver Cromwell on 14th Oct 1645, resulting in its total destruction, down to the foundations.

I won't be painting much, if anything, this weekend as we've got family over and we're continuing our Heroquest journey. Stepdad is the Barbarian, brother is the Wizard, one of my sons is the Elf, nephew is the Dwarf and my youngest is helping me DM.

I cannot wait!! 😁👍

The Siege of Colchester 1648:
A large Royalist cannon, nicknamed "Humpty Dumpty," was placed on the St Mary-at-the-Walls church tower. When Parliamentary cannon fire destroyed the tower, "Humpty" fell, inspiring the famous nursery rhyme. The repaired damage can still be seen.

English Civil War:

WIP on two strips of musketeers for Lord Saye and Sele's Regiment of Foote. Still a fair bit to do before they're finished.

More soon. 👍

I've spent most of today writing the second article for Warlord Games and I've now submitted it for editing. As with my other article, I'll post a link to it once it's been published on Warlord's site.

Broughton Castle: the key Parliamentary stronghold & fortified home of 1st Viscount Saye & Sele, was besieged & captured by Royalist forces in Oct 1642. It was besieged with artillery, heavily damaged & occupied by the King's army. The siege was swift, lasting less than 2 days.

English civil war:

I've made a start on 'Lord Saye and Sele's Blew Regiment of Foote'.

It was a Parliamentarian Regiment raised by William Fiennes, 1st Viscount Saye & Sele. They were involved in the Battle of Edgehill and the Sieges of Banbury, Bridgewater, Bristol & Oxford.

Nunney Castle, Somerset, was besieged & significantly damaged in Sept 1645 during the English Civil War. Parliamentary forces under Lord Fairfax & Oliver Cromwell used cannons to breach the north wall of the Royalist-held, moated castle, forcing a surrender after only two days.

English Civil War:

The first sprue is now fully painted and I'm very happy with it. I'm currently waiting on some tufts I ordered, so I'll base them once they've arrived.

In the meantime, on to the next sprue!

WIP English Civil War:

I spent yesterday painting some parliamentarians (Sir Phillip Skippon's Regiment) for a future Warlord Games article. It's great to be painting Epic Scale again & I'm pretty happy with my new painting recipe.

More soon. 👍

I decided to build the Sarissa Manor and Gatehouse, found within Warlord's 'Push of Pike' set.

As with most Sarissa terrain, they go together pretty easily, have some lovely details and look fantastic. 👍

Well played, Sir! 😅

The second Panzerwagon is finished. This is the command vehicle, with the tiny chap poking out the hatch. I like the look of these a lot and I may have to pick up a starter army, when money allows!! 😅👍

Thank you very much to Jim butler & @warlordgames.com for sending me out the Epic Battles 'Push of Pike' starter set!

I'll be writing a second article for Warlord, going into how I prepare and paint these Epic Scale minis from start to finish.

I'll make a start on Monday. 👍

The 2nd Officer's base is now finished. I like the shield, it's so unique!

I decided to have both Officers at the rear, to make them stand out a bit. The remaining bases will have the heavily armoured chap up front, with the lighter guys behind.
