As of today, SNAP participants in Oregon should find their full November benefits available! 🎉 After a court found that the federal government was illegally withholding SNAP benefits, ODHS quickly loaded recipient cards, making Oregonians some of the first to receive their November grocery benefits

We share a huge THANK YOU to the 225 organizations across Oregon who signed on to our letter to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary demanding the agency fund November SNAP benefits, which are at risk due to the government shutdown.

Are my SNAP benefits coming if the federal government shuts down?

Yes! October SNAP benefits WILL be available. Continue to use SNAP as usual.

But... we can't be certain that SNAP will operate normally if the shutdown continues into November. We'll share more information as it is available.

Some important changes are coming to SNAP soon. SNAP recipients who qualify as "Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents" will be subject to the three-month time limit for receiving benefits, unless they receive an exemption or report 80 hours a month of work activities.

In Oregon, we have thousands of grocery stores and farmers markets that rely on SNAP shoppers, who bring in $1.86 billion to Oregon's economy.

We must #ProtectSNAP!

Congress just passed the biggest cuts to food assistance in generations: What does this mean for school meals?

In Oregon, over 94% of schools currently use a program called CEP to offer free meals to all students. But CEP eligibility depends on SNAP and Medicaid enrollment. Read more in the slides.
