Feels like the US has spent the last 5+ years on the verge of some kind of secular moral revival that keeps getting channeled into weirdo lifestyle puritanism
Cafes across the U.S. are embracing the low- and no-caffeine lifestyle, with options that are a far cry from dusty tea bags and rewarmed decaf. nyti.ms/3XKlqoj

Ossoff: "This is so much deeper than the politics. What does it say about the moral condition of this Congress that the thing that has them all tied up in knots is a very simple question: Should people's health insurance premiums go up double or triple? This is a policy choice."

Please, put me in your will

I’m on a text thread with about eight good friends and I recently messaged them that if they could each put me in their will, I think I’d be able to accomplish great things once they pass away. I’ve let them all know before that I’m pretty sure I’ll outlive them. My…

I’m on a text thread with about eight good friends and I recently messaged them that if they could each put me in their will, I think I’d be able to accomplish great things once they pass away. I’ve let them all know before that I’m pretty sure I’ll outlive them. My family has some serious longevity, so there’s a good chance, I think, that I’ll see 85 if not 90, and they won’t.

Thanksgiving dinner is a battle we cannot win, nor should we try
On Monday night, Snap Fitness in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, was jammed full of people preparing to pig out over Thanksgiving. I was surprised when I walked in: attendance was about double what it normally is, something that must be due to holiday gorging preparation. I imagine this same scenario is playing out all over Minnesota and America. There are occasional spikes in fitness club commitment during the year, of course, the most obvious being just after New Year’s.

Deliberate poetry

I’m not much of a poet, especially in that I let poems “come to me.” That happens about once per year. Lately I’ve begun to deliberately sit down to write poetry. These are the latest results. The second feels a little more like spoken word to me. Coffee relationship Every…

I have been charged in a federal indictment sought by the Department of Justice.

This political prosecution is an attack on all of our First Amendment rights. I’m not backing down, and we’re going to win.

Republicans are in the business of small government. A government shutdown is the smallest government gets. This is the plan.

Well seasoned
In winter
I move through the world
with ankles and knees that crack in the brittle air

The water of my body
thieved by winter’s parched throat
Where in its ravenous hunger
I whistle past its snow white teeth

Had a lot of fun writing this one. The University of Minnesota has brought the world more than the honeycrisp apple. From nature’s palette to your own palate (including your mom’s fav plant), the landscape in the Midwest is much richer because of #umn twin-cities.umn.edu/news-events/...
The public demands beautiful flowering shrubs
From the marvelous chrysanthemum to the audacious azalea, the University of Minnesota’s cold-hardy breeding program has delivered far more than maroon and gold to Minnesota’s landscape. (October 1, 20...

I feel like I’m withering. I need a creative project to set my mind or my body to. One I’ve been thinking about is that I have all these wine corks I’ve been saving up for six or more years. An ent…
