Modules clarified project structure and released version 5.6 with a new hierarchy mechanism in 2025. In 2026 the project is growing its steering committee and delivering performance improvements with closer ties to Spack and EESSI.

HPSF Year in Review: HPCToolkit 🔍

HPCToolkit delivered GPU instruction sampling support across major hardware in 2025. In 2026 the project is advancing GPU performance analysis, introducing a Python API, and expanding support for AI & ML workloads.

HPSF Year in Review: E4S 🧩

E4S expanded GPU platform support, refreshed OS images, and added AI tooling in 2025. In 2026 the focus shifts to tighter Spack integration, stronger binary caches, improved CI containers, and broader AI package coverage.

HPSF Year in Review: Chapel 🧠

@chapellanguage.bsky.social joined HPSF in 2025, launched open governance, shipped regular releases, and expanded community engagement. In 2026 the project is improving tooling, compile times, debugging, dynamic modules, and the Mason package ecosystem.

Apptainer delivered major platform and security updates with the 1.4.x releases in 2025. In 2026 the focus is on Container Device Interface support, reproducible builds, a new buildkit bootstrap, and IPFS based downloads.

HPSF Year in Review: AMReX 🚀

AMReX extended linear solver support, added new particle class optimizations, and broadened GPU CI in 2025. In 2026 we are focusing on expanded architecture coverage, mesh algorithm support, and AI ML workflow bindings.
