I think in the context of using AI (be that LLM or ML or something else) within the models to solve whatever problem HPC was being used to solve there's been a fair bit of adoption in multiple domains.

I think in the use of AI to power the actual scheduling of work its been lacklustre.

time to jump on the 2026 predictions bandwagon for #HPC and #AI.... well, maybe run alongside it for a bit anyway

Dreams and Wishes for HPC in 2026
At the start of 2025 I avoided the temptation to write my predictions for HPC and instead chose to write what my own hopes for 2025 were. A year on, it’s time to revisit that. What moved, what didn’t ...

Yea i guess i could try an ARM flavour of linux (wish Mint was available) but I was hoping for something x86 running remotely that works nicely so I can be more confident that it works and behaves like our prod envs.

Either that or we move prod to Mac Studios 😂

but honestly that experience kinda sucks. I couldn't get it work at all with Mint and with regular Ubuntu its meh at best.

about a year ago i finally moved off my Intel MBP to an M4 Mac Studio.

Its great.

There's on thing I still haven't found a nice way to replicate. I used to run a Mint VM on my old MBP using Parallels.

What's my closest option on the Mac Studio?

I've tried running a VM on a server and using RDP

How daft of an idea would it be to try and do a podcast?

Could try and do some of the HPC Club events as part podcast and interview actual practitioners and ask them to share their experiences and pain points?
not really much of an #HPC update this week to be honest... its all bit quiet. you can read what we've been up to instead though or provide input on what you'd like to see this year

Hmm I've written about it a couple of times last year (and actually that was quite popular)... but I'm not sure I have enough to say to do something more regularly on it. Someone else at HMx might though... hmm... let me see.

Thanks for the idea!

Yes I find you have to specify where you want libraries to be used or have other context that shows they should.

Just a few random thoughts on using #AI assistance for coding today.

Can AI Tell You If You’re Reinventing the Wheel?
Is our AI code assistant quietly telling us more than just what the next line of code should be?

i.e. lots of large liquid cooled racks of computers and the robot should be connected to these racks via a kind of ethereal light cable. The image should be well lit with the details easily visible."

Not war and peace but too long for single bsky post.

It should feature a robot, which has an Nvidia label on it, drinking a can of soft drink with the word SLURM visible on the soft drink can. The picture should be set against a backdrop of an AI data centre,

haha... actually no. Managed to one shot it with using ChatGPT 5.2 in thinking mode with extended thinking and this prompt:

"I need a new image. This should be drawn in a cartoon style that is resembles that style used for the TV cartoon series Futurama.

also how did no one beat me to this.
December 17, 2025 at 5:27 PM
yea... but will they finally give us one that does everything we need (even if only on Nvidia GPUs)???

They've got all the money so I hope so....

Not going to hold my breath though!

its a good article but he attributed A Space Odyssey to Kubrick instead of Arther C Clark. That's just wrong!!

"I was inspired by HAL 9000 in Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey."

Sorry @thedeadline.bsky.social .

The rest is solid though!
