Despite helping millions stay safe and healthy, these programs are being cut, threatening a national health and housing crisis at a time when energy is more vital than ever.

The Trump administration’s proposed budget eliminates LIHEAP and the Weatherization Assistance Program, putting over six million vulnerable households—including children, seniors, and veterans—at risk of losing access to essential utilities.

🧾 Push for Local Aid – Tell state and city leaders to protect and expand local energy assistance

On Monday evening, 55-year-old Shauna Thomas was found dead in her St. Ann, Missouri apartment—just two weeks after Ameren Missouri shut off her electricity due to unpaid bills. Her death is a heartbreaking reminder of how energy insecurity can have fatal consequences.

The expiration of the expanded child tax credit (ECTC) was linked to increased energy insecurity among middle-income families, highlighting the need to reinstate the ECTC to support household stability.
