This was a really great podcast episode of Planet Critical. Lots of wise words - "the needs of the market are incompatible with the needs of life"

I have 'disdain' for those who constantly use the doomer strawmann to downplay how bad it really is.

It's here! I'm thrilled to share my latest publication in Critical and Radical Social Work - “Collapsed Social Work: A Theoretical Framework for Adapting to Societal Collapse.”
This paper asks a unnerving but necessary question: What happens to social work when society itself begins to break down?

What if the collapse of the planet is a mirror-reflecting back our collective narcissism?
My paper, Global Narcissistic Collapse-Finding Humility in the Anthropocene, explores a psychological lens on planetary crisis.
What if the real driver of collapse is our refusal to imagine limits?

The Last Humans

What will they say of us?
Those Last few.
Those who clung on, amidst
The burning world.
Those who with a hopeless hope,
Sprang forth life time and again,
Wishing the world a different place
For their baby girl and boy.

What will they say of us?

With global temperatures increasing and the likelihood of passing the catastrophic figure of 2 degrees warming within the near future...what will you do to prepare your children? What can we do to support them?

"These collective behaviors suggest that humanity to some degree may already be experiencing aspects of a “global narcissistic collapse.” The intensification of climate impacts and the accompanying psychological and social responses highlight the urgent need for a shift in humanity’s worldview."

Excited to say that my latest paper is now published!
Global narcissistic collapse: A metaphorical lens on humanity's ecological crisis examines humanity's response to climate degradation through a new concept of global narcissism and collapse.

My research is mainly on food security & climate change. Food will be an immense challenge going forward due to temperature increases, climate impacts and harvest failures. Global instability and the potential for societal collapse compound these issues.

So much of the news lately makes you despair of humans. This video is of nurses clinging onto babies to protect them during the recent earthquake. Wonderful wonderful humans 🙏💐
